General pain and discomfort throughout your body can severely impact your quality of life. Unfortunately, many of us experience chronic pain, and it usually goes undiagnosed and untreated. Using over the counter medications like Tylenol, Advil or Aleve may provide temporary relief, but it would be unwise to rely on them for long-term results. Whether you’re a highly active person or sit in your chair for most of your day, your body may be holding onto stress and tension that impacts your health and wellbeing. Here are three important reasons to seek chiropractic treatments.

Improved Quality of Sleep

Adults need to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Proper rest is important for our bodies and our mind; it plays a major role in regulating our eating patterns and improving our mental state. Unfortunately, bodily pain and discomfort can keep people from falling asleep and staying asleep. Chiropractic treatments will target the root cause of your pain and will promote your body’s self-healing capabilities to ensure you get a full night’s rest.

Increased Ability While Exercising

Staying active is important for people of all ages, but for adults, it’s particularly important for preventing arthritis, heart disease, high blood pressure and much more. Unfortunately, many people don’t find long runs or lifting weights appealing, particularly if they experience nagging pain when they try. Chiropractic treatments focused around the spine are designed to support your central nervous system, which will hopefully provide a painless experience next time you exercise.

Reduced Stress

For many people, stress can be completely derailed, which otherwise would be a productive day. Stress can affect the human body both physically and mentally; depression and anxiety are mental symptoms of stress, while insomnia, lethargy, weight fluctuation, and muscle tension are physical symptoms of stress. Stress can prevent you from doing what you love and stop you from enjoying new experiences. If physical discomfort impedes you from living your best life, be sure to schedule an appointment with a registered chiropractor immediately.

Maintaining Your Chiropractic Progress at Home

The COVID-19 outbreak has prevented many of our patients from visiting our practice for re-adjustments. Due to the self-isolation and social distancing efforts put in place by the Government of Ontario and the Federal Government of Canada, we are currently unable to offer chiropractic services. However, here are some things you can do at home to reduce and eliminate pain.

Avoid rapid movements with your neck and back- whiplash and pinched nerves can add to existing discomfort.Keep active with at-home exercises (i.e. pushups, pull-ups, sit-ups) and ensure you use correct form. Stay hydrated. While sitting, ensure that your back is straight, the head is upright, and shoulders are back. Avoid slouching as much as you can.If possible, sleep on your side. Sleeping on your stomach can hurt your back.
