Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals with a significant role in health promotion and treatment of injury and disease.

They combine their in-depth knowledge of the body and how it works with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of illness, injury or disability.

Physiotherapists are registered health professionals who are specifically trained in the assessment and treatment of varying medical and health conditions. A physiotherapist may use exercise, manual therapy, education and modalities (such as ice, heat, laser, ultrasound and muscle stimulation) to treat pain, dysfunction and loss of mobility. Health promotion, as well as disease and injury prevention, are a key part of physiotherapy practice. Individuals of any age, level of fitness or capability can benefit from physiotherapy.
